Ever since I was a child, writing has been one of my favorite passions. In fact, I still remember how I loved writing stories that fulfilled my childhood dreams and fantasies. Those were some thrilling times! Fast forward to today, I now help businesses by writing copy that fulfils their desires. That is, I help convert prospective customers into paying ones.
Before I became a Freelance Writer
I majored in agricultural science and eventually earned a doctorate degree.
Along the way to completing my doctorate, I learned how to write for the scientific community and published several articles in prestigious scientific journals, e.g. Weed Science, Weed Technology, and Canadian Journal of Plant Science. I also reviewed articles written by other scientists and earned an outstanding reviewer award from the America Society of Agronomy. Eventually, I served on an editorial team for a journal.
Transitions
My next challenge was to explain complex scientific research results to nonscientific audiences. I started out by developing extension materials with farmers as the target. I then began to blog on a regular basis. I wrote content that appealed to the public, many of whom were not involved with agriculture. For example, addressing the hazards of pesticides and safe use of pesticides in Africa
To further enhance my writing and copywriting skills as a freelancer, I trained with the American Writers & Artists Institute (AWAI).
